Claude writes better than most things you can buy, and if you are here it is probably not the writing. Cowork does its work in its own workspace, and what it learns about you stays there. Why people go looking in the first place
Everything ends in a copy step. The proposal is excellent. It now has to become a document in Drive, a presentation file, a row marked "sent" and an email that sounds like you. Cowork can do a great deal of that in its own workspace, and connectors extend the reach further, but the last mile back into the systems your business actually runs on tends to be manual.
The memory belongs to the vendor. It learns your formats, your voice, which clients get which tone. Then that stays inside the product. If you move next year, you start teaching from zero, and the longer you stay the more expensive leaving becomes. That is not an accident of design.
It is priced for professionals. The plans that open up the agentic surface sit well above what a student or somebody two months into a side hustle will approve without thinking about it. If you are that person, the tool is not wrong; the price is aimed past you.
What Claude does that you should not give up lightly
Reasoning on a hard problem, long documents held in one head, work where the goal changes while you talk. Anthropic documents memory across chat and Cowork in its release notes, and the connector guide covers what connected services can read and do. Check both against your own plan before deciding anything, because availability moves.
Most people who switch do not stop using Claude. They stop using it as the place work gets finished.

The memory row is the one that compounds. Every week you use a tool that keeps what it learned, the cost of leaving it goes up.
Who should switch, and who should not
Switch if the deliverable has an address. Client updates that go out as email, proposals that end as a doc and a deck, listings that end in a marketplace backend, applications that end in a tracker with a follow-up date. Those are jobs where a brilliant draft in a chat window is halfway.
Stay with Claude if what you need is the thinking. Nothing here is faster at working through a hard argument, and swapping it out for a workflow tool would be a downgrade for that.
If you are technical enough to wire your own tooling, this is not aimed at you either.
Try it on the thing you send every week
Take a recurring deliverable with a real recipient. Run it both ways, then run it again seven days later without re-explaining your format, your tone or where it goes. Compare how much you had to rebuild, how much of the result you moved by hand, and what each system would let you walk away with if you left tomorrow.

No. Claude is excellent at that. This is about where the finished work lands and who keeps what the tool learned about you.
Can I use both?
