Tencent Yuanqi Shutdown: Nov 9 Migration Plan

Tencent Yuanqi shutdown starts November 9, 2026. See the October 29 cutoff, January 9 export deadline and what a move to Tencent ADP actually requires.

Contents

Tencent Yuanqi is shutting down on November 9, 2026; if your agent answers customers through WeChat, export its data and arrange a replacement before that date. Tencent's October 8 notice sets an earlier October 29 cutoff for creating agents and issuing API keys, then leaves a download-only window until January 9, 2027. As of October 2026, Tencent attributes the decision only to ‘business adjustments.’ It hasn't published a count of affected agents or businesses. The Tencent Yuanqi shutdown is a service deadline, not merely an export deadline.

Key Takeaways:

  • October 29 ends new agent creation and API-key issuance; existing agents can run until November 9.
  • November 9 ends public platform functions and replies from Yuanqi agents published to WeChat channels.
  • Download configurations, workflows and conversation records now; the post-shutdown console is for backups, not operating agents.
  • Tencent Cloud ADP can import some newer Yuanqi modules, but settings, custom tools and old workflows need manual work.

Tencent Yuanqi shutdown timeline: three dates to save

Date Tencent's stated change Your next move
October 29, 2026 No new agents or API keys Inventory existing agents and their owners.
November 9, 2026 Public-facing services stop Move customer-facing replies before this date.
January 9, 2027 User data deletion begins, except legally retained records Finish downloading backups before the retention window closes.

These are different deadlines, not a single grace period. Tencent says existing agents may keep running after October 29 until the November 9 shutdown. It does not promise that you can keep operating them through the later export window. Treat November 9 as the service deadline and January 9 as the backup deadline.

What stops working for WeChat agents on November 9

Tencent says application access, data reads and writes, API calls and the console will close to the public. Yuanqi agent pages will no longer display. Agents published through Yuanqi to WeChat Official Accounts, Service Accounts or WeChat Customer Service will stop responding to conversations. A customer who messages your account after the cutoff should not be expected to reach the old agent.

Suppose you run an account that answers delivery questions. Record the source documents and who will handle messages while you test a replacement. A new bot in the same channel does not prove that knowledge or handoff behavior moved with it. Plan a manual fallback.

Export Yuanqi agents before January 9, 2027

Tencent's notice identifies agent configurations, workflows and conversation records as data to back up locally. Its export tool operates before November 9; after shutdown, Tencent says you can sign in to a separate data-export console to download backups until January 9. From that date, it says it will delete user data other than records and logs that law requires it to retain. Export sooner rather than relying on the final day.

Save each agent's files with a note on its purpose, instructions, knowledge sources and published channel. Restrict access: conversation records can contain private customer information. Check that downloaded files open. Export does not mean another platform can run the agent.

Tencent ADP migration: what imports and what needs rebuilding

Tencent's ADP migration guide, updated October 14, recommends Tencent Cloud Agent Development Platform for agents needing similar building and publishing functions. It offers standard, Multi-Agent and single-workflow application modes. The guide says ADP supports Yuanqi's principal publishing channels and adds WeChat Mini Programs, Enterprise WeChat bots, DingTalk and Feishu. That is a vendor description of supported paths, not a guarantee that your particular agent will behave identically.

For newer Yuanqi, Tencent says knowledge bases, exported workflows and Widgets can be imported into ADP. You must reconfigure the agent's model, prompt, welcome message, example questions and tools, and recreate custom tools manually. The guide explicitly says older Yuanqi workflows cannot currently be exported; rebuild their nodes and logic by hand, and re-upload their knowledge-base material. ADP also cannot automatically synchronize historical WeChat Official Account articles into its knowledge base. If those articles supply your answers, import them yourself and check they are applied.

Tencent warns that official models and plugins differ across the two platforms. Preview representative questions before publishing, including a question the bot should refuse or hand to a person. Only then reconnect the chosen channel. The guide says users will basically retain their original channel experience after republishing; that is Tencent's expectation, not an independently tested result.

Why platform shutdowns expose agent lock-in

The Tencent Yuanqi shutdown is not the only builder retirement on the calendar: OpenAI says Agent Builder will shut down on November 30, 2026, while ChatKit remains available. The two announcements concern different products and migration paths. The shared procurement problem is narrower: a workflow may depend on an editor, channel connection or private configuration that an exported file does not carry.

Our Agent Builder migration guide explains that distinction for OpenAI's product. For the choice between owning an agent's runtime and buying a managed service, see self-hosted versus managed agents. Neither route removes migration work: the useful question is which parts of your process you can still inspect and move when a vendor changes course.

Make your next agent easier to move

Keep an independent description of the job: trigger, input, approved sources, answer rules, human handoff and expected output. Save prompts and permitted knowledge in formats you can read outside the builder. List accounts and credentials separately rather than pasting secrets into a shared migration document. Finally, test the replacement against the same real questions and record differences before redirecting customers.

Zentor's workspace memory is designed to belong to the user and reach different AI tools through Zentor MCP; that addresses the problem of carrying context between tools, not the separate problem of automatically reproducing a Yuanqi channel bot. Zentor's always-on workspace can support ongoing tasks without a laptop staying open, but it is not an announced Yuanqi importer or a substitute for Tencent's ADP migration steps. If your work needs portable context beyond one builder, review Zentor and evaluate the actual task and connector fit first.

FAQ: Yuanqi shutdown and migration

Is Tencent Yuanqi shutting down?

Yes. Tencent's stated date is November 9, 2026. It cites business adjustments without giving a more specific public reason.

What happens to my Yuanqi bot on WeChat?

Tencent says agents published through Yuanqi to Official Accounts, Service Accounts and WeChat Customer Service will no longer answer users after the shutdown. Arrange and test another response route first.

Can I migrate a Yuanqi agent to Tencent ADP with one import?

Not in general. Tencent documents imports for certain newer knowledge bases, workflows and Widgets, but agent settings and custom tools require manual work; older workflows cannot currently be exported.

When will Tencent delete Yuanqi user data?

Tencent says deletion starts January 9, 2027, with exceptions for legally required logs and records. The intervening export console permits backup downloads, not continued agent operation.
